Migrating Kitchens Exhibition

Now in its second season at Pataka gallery. Spark Productions aided the completion of the projects by filming the Italian, Afghan, Zimbabwe and Chilean sections and editing the Afghan and Italian sections. Sauce animated the graphics and compiled the sections.

In many cultures the kitchen is the hub of the home - families and friends gather round the dining table to eat, to share events of the day and tell stories that evoke the cultural heart.

In their adopted country, the Migrating Kitchen Exhibition is a way for many migrants to celebrate their unique cultural identity and heritage.

We invite you to step inside the kitchens of immigrant communities who have made Aotearoa New Zealand their home.

The Migrating Kitchen encourages dialogue and communication. Food is the entrée. Breaking bread with each other helps break the barriers of language, culture and religion. The Migrating Kitchen celebrates the many communities that enrich this country; in diversity lies our strength.
